Ceres Goddess of Grain

The pyramid-shaped roof of the Chicago Board of Trade Building holds a
31 foot, 6500pound cast aluminum statue of Ceres, Roman goddess of
grain and harvest. The Ceres statue is a constant reminder that much
of Chicago’s commerce originates in the rich soil of the Midwestern
prairies. In Ceres’ right hand is a sheaf of wheat; in her left,
kernels of corn. Both are symbolic of the commodities traded at the
CME. Centuries ago, Ceres was regarded as the goddess of food grains
and patroness of the corn trade. Today, grain foods are appropriately
named “cereal” in her honor.

"local bozo"

The Chicago Bozo franchise was the most popular and successful locally
produced children's program in the history of television. It also
became the most widely known Bozo show as WGN-TV became a national
cable television Superstation. WGN-TV Chicago's "Bozo" show debuted on
June 20, 1960 starring Bob Bell on a live half-hour program weekdays
at noon, performing comedy sketches and introducing cartoons.

The Bozo Show is a locally produced children's television program that
aired on WGN-TV in Chicago and nationally on what is now WGN America.
The series is a local version of the internationally franchised Bozo
the Clown format and is also the longest-running in the franchise.
Recognized as the most popular and successful locally produced
children's program in the history of television, it only aired under
this title for 14 of its 40+ years: other titles were Bozo, Bozo's
Circus, and The Bozo Super Sunday Show.

Louche & De Toilet

At the time of the US-led mergers to form Deloitte & Touche, the name
of the international firm was a problem, because there was no
worldwide exclusive access to the names "Deloitte" or "Touche Ross" –
key member firms such as Deloitte in UK and Touche Ross in Australia
had not joined the merger. The name DRT International was therefore
chosen, referring to Deloitte, Ross and Tohmatsu. In 1993 the
international firm was renamed Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu to reflect the
contribution from the Japanese firm, as well as agreements to use both
of the names Deloitte and Touche.

In 1995, the partners of Deloitte & Touche decided to create Deloitte
& Touche Consulting Group (now known as Deloitte Consulting).

"check kiters and French-roundoff artistes"

Check kiting is a form of check fraud, involving taking advantage of
the float to make use of non-existent funds in a checking or other
bank account. In this way, instead of being used as a negotiable
instrument, checks are misused as a form of unauthorised credit.

Kiting is commonly defined as intentionally writing a check for a
value greater than the account balance from an account in one bank,
then writing a check from another account in another bank, also with
non-sufficient funds, with the second check serving to cover the
non-existent funds from the first account. The purpose of check kiting
is to falsely inflate the balance of a checking account in order to
allow written checks that would otherwise bounce rather than clear.

Salami slicing refers to a series of many small actions, often

August "Gus" Gorman, a chronically unemployed ne'er-do-well, discovers
a knack for computer programming. After embezzling from his new
employer's payroll (through a technique known as salami slicing),
Gorman is brought to the attention of the CEO, Ross Webster. Webster
is obsessed with the computer's potential to aid him in his schemes to
rule the world financially, and is more impressed than angry at
Gorman's embezzlement.

... the trio decide to get even by infecting Initech's accounting
system with a computer virus designed to divert fractions of pennies
into a bank account they control. They believe the scheme will succeed
because the amounts are too small for Initech to notice, while over
time they will receive a substantial amount of money.
