DFW & Tom Clancy

Can't remember if I posted it here but recently read an intriguing
(and now misplaced) article on "The Clancyverse" as it is known - the
big ol' glut of media created under his name, incorporating books and
games and movies, bestsellers all, mostly not made by him but under
license. The reason it gets that title is because of the consistent
worldview across the various media, one of a particularly adolescent
male libertarianism, pretty xenophobic, etc. I think it's interesting
how that particular weltanschauung keys into a particular kind of
Persons of Power in Pynchon; how Windust is a big boy, in some ways,
as is Horst, and many other men in BE, particularly. Maxi (I think)
makes a quip about Tom Clancy that perfectly represents that scornful
yet perceptive understanding of what The Clancyverse really signifies.
