It took about six decades, but I finally achieved a longtime ambition:
A couple of weeks ago, I visited the Dakota, one of New York's most
storied addresses, for the first time. No, I didn't slip past the
doormen when they were looking the other way. In fact, I was invited.
Actually, that's not entirely true: I invited myself.
