Sorry for the belated answer Thomas, been AWOL from the list for
a few days...

Estonia's political scene is quite peculiar. To begin with, the
tensions between the Estonian-speaking and Russian-speaking populations
make things more complicated. There are left-center conservatives (largely
supported by Russian-speakers), right-wing conservatives and free-market
liberalists. Ilves' party, Social Democratic Party, isn't really any of
the above. And the party does not have too many blue-collar supporters.
Maybe the closest parallel would be the Liberal Party in the UK.
