Very misc again

We all remember---get reminded on the plist---of the scraps of broken newspaper headlines on which Slothrop reads of the bombing of Hiroshima in Gravity's Rainbow.

In wm Hjortsberg's astonishing ( so far) biography of Richard Brautigan called Jubilee Hitchhiker,
One of the stories Brautigan---born two years before TRP---used to tell about himself was that he knew he could read when he saw in a newspaper headline DOLITTLE BOMBS TOKYO and he could match the letter-words with the reality he was hearing about. 

Years later, He described V-J day ( he was 10) and at a movie theater in Oregon when the news was scrolled across the screen as " Everything was in Pandemonium".
