Tidbit about publishing distribution:
The major US companies used to do "On-Sale" dates only for the REALLY BIG BOOKS. Did not
want "scoops" before the book was available everywhere.
Over time, like real estate development in IV, more and more books were
deemed not to be available until an ON--Sale Date....stores get in trouble, etc....(BE started "shipping"
last week --In order to be in all stores by 9/17) and stores in the US are getting it daily.
Europe does not seem to have that ON--Sale date for it or for as many (Rowling yes, Pynchon No)
