Bleeding Edge review by Jonathan Lethem in NYT

I thought "Chronic City" had Pynchonian (word?) aspects to it, which
made Lethem an appropriate guy to write a review of Pynchon's New York
novel.

It also had elements of mystery and what may or may not have been a
giant rampaging tiger or large piece of industrial equipment or a mass
hysterical hallucination.
