Yeah, this list's useless. I'm sad about it. And mad too. I have returned
from a short weekend with 247 new emails to delete, which will predictably
contain at least a hundred forwards having anything to do with any word ever
used by Thomas Pynchon, via about 2 list participants, whom I have begun to
dread-and these are probably nice people who I haven't ever even met.  But I
have begun to loathe them because they are list destroyers. They are
broadcasting dual me-too's and announcing every little thing that pops into
their minds many times an hour. I remember the days when the vast majority
of posts were more deeply thought presentations --no less provocative, tho
everyone thought very long and hard about hitting send before something was
meant to be seen. I beg the RSS Forwarders and Twitter forwarders, put all
your shit into 1 email per day, at least? You know? In the past, one took
time to read what was delivered via Pynchon-l but now yeah it feels like
spam. If I wanted to be on twitter, I would be on twitter. If I wanted to
set up an RSS feed on every single news outlet and blog to scour them for
all words ever written by Pynchon, it's not that hard to do and I would do
it, but I don't, so please don't put all that shit on this list, ok? Maybe
it's just me, maybe I'm older now and more sober and this all seems like a
low priority to sift thru chaff and come up with 12 wheat kernels in this
mound. Now it seems like the list is a contest to see how useless a listerv
can be by its own massiveness of a heap shit death. I'm sorry it's not
working out and that I have to text message break up with you. Seriously I
think I've got to bow out. Unless I live a stagnant life in front of a soul
sucking screen, I cannot participate. I wish I could set up rules to trash
all the crap that isn't of some originality and mine will be first on your
list I'm sure.
