I think ultimately, the reader can filter out the posters whom the
reader does not want to hear from.

I can try to offer technical help to those who do not know how to filter
their email.

I'm really not fond of 90%+ of the posts of a couple people here but
they are easy to blow through if you have a decent email client.

In one group I'm in, there is cctech (classical computer technology) and
cctalk (random bullshit about classical computers). It's a scheme that
works OK except of course people still often post BS to cctech. And then
everyone gets outraged and then there is massive time lost on talmudic
discussions on what a classic computer is (PC AT? yes or no?) etc.

But ultimately I think the division of a group into "fun" and "serious"
is clunky because everyone has a different idea of what is serious and
what is frivolous. So I guess I again appeal to everyone to learn how
their email client works and to use it to filter out posts they don't like.
