(np) Lucius Shepard, requiescat in pace

Sad news; Shepard was one of the stars of the '80s and early '90s in SF/fantasy, especially in short fiction, one of the most "consciously" literary writers in the field. I recommend the collections The Jaguar Hunter and The Ends of the Earth, plus the novels Green Eyes and the masterful Life During Wartime. Over the last 20 years his work became pretty inconsistent, tho' he still showed flashes -- I imagine his health problems interfered.
