Roth on Freud ( and therapy)

" Freud was undoubtedly a genius, but the idea of translating his ideas into this kind of therapy
was " outlandish" because " it stamped everyone with the same story" . 

He goes on to say Freud was " not a good novelist" ---missed the individualizing details. 

Roth read his case, name and profession changed, written up in a psychoanalytic journal while
He was seeing the shrink. He was furious but he also saw how wrong the doc, whom he wanted to trust and believe, could be.
