The Cold War is over. Long over. Russia is not that important to the
world and certainly not to the US. It is important. All that Gas and
Oil, but not that important in the grand scheme of things. Does Putin
hope to make it more important? Sure. Will he succeed? No.
The US has enormous advantage in what's happening in trade, banking,
energy, etc. and as Trade is going to decline in the next couple of
decades and this may ramp up tension as nation states try to find a
way to deal with income inequality and education, health, and so on,
the US will be in the best position. Europe, even without the Ukraine
issue, is still a basket case. I'm positive on India and Brasil, but
the bric is broken and Russia and China will suffer the end of the
commodities super cycle.
