Monte Davis wrote that he "taped GR at Recording for the Blind (now part of Learning Ally) in the mid-1970s; never had a tape of that myself and it's not listed there. For now, I'm assuming the October release will be a reissue of Guidall's 1986 reading, sans samizdat flaws."
Wow, Monte, cool project! I *had* to double check - but darn the luck, I couldn't find it either.
Maybe it's on the dark web somewhere.
Reddit - has some interesting threads on the Silk Road/Dark Web topic such as

Other than the mention of a person offering grilled cheese sandwiches for $9.99 (with added spices and confidentially shipped) with proceeds to go for legal defense of Silk Road founder, I haven't yet seen anything that made me want to go to there.
It has its own .onion TLD and you have to run tor (The Onion Router) a-and apparently there's some kind of "hidden wiki" that's a partial index to it.
The description of the weed trade sounded like they had put some thought into it.
However, the exit and entry routers seem like huge vulnerabilities. Though "They" can't backtrack streams to an individual (unless pgp is broken by design & the whole thing's a honeypot...paranoid much?) they can look at the content and of course they do (with all that implies)
In a nutshell -
The ergodic requirement is like early Deep Archer but the content doesn't seem nearly as inspiring.
Old news for many on the list, no doubt, but I had no clue about silk road till now...
Anyroad (as John Barth sez)
Looking forward to October for the GR audiobook!!!
