I remember reading "Beware of the Dog" as a teenager. I thought it was cool
that what tipped the prisoner off, before he saw the "guarde en chien" sign
through the window, was the water. The nurse complained about the hardness
of the water, which the prisoner knew would not be the case if the hospital
really were in the part of England that they claimed it was in.
