Doors opening and closing at high speed: yes, plenty of that. GBH is pure
delight, a Mendl's pastry of movies, with a very Pynchonian shadowing of
the real, dark Mitteleuropan 1930s at every edge and corner of the
comic-opera (indeed, you should forgive the expression, Sigmund Romberg)
frame.

My own fantasy would be to have Wes Anderson *and* Paul Thomas Anderson
collaborate on the movie of AtD, with the former doing the urbane hotel /
resort / department-store twittery, and the latter (in 'There Will Be Blood
' mode) doing the Webb Traverse Western and Balkan spy passages.
