"Nearly all the gas Washington and Brussels would like to get moving into Ukraine from Europe originally came from Russia, which pumps gas westward across Ukraine, into Slovakia and then on to customers in Germany and elsewhere. Once the gas is sold, however, Gazprom ceases to be its owner and loses its power to set the terms of its sale."  NYT


 The article says Ukraine is something like 3.5 billion in arrears on gas payments to Gazprom, so Russia is doubling the price until they pay up. But those crafty europeans plan to buy the gas FROM RUSSIA at their regular lower price and sell it to Ukraine at the standard rate. Only thing is all the needed pipes are controlled by Gazprom. Maybe they could just pipe in the gas coming out of the state departments rear-end and save the day for Ukraine so they too can enjoy the eternal bliss of being owned by the Banks which are owned by the Fed. 

Suppose Russia raises the rates on gas for Europe enough to cover any loss from sanctions?   There is a scene in the Grand Budapest Hotel where during a prison escape, an escapee with a knife takes on a group of guards and kills them all but is himself stabbed. The concierge says I guess you'd call that a draw.  Could be this is a similar type of win-win situation.

Hey our vile interests are at snake. Soze evrybody Elsa's two. Russia's got vile interests, POTUS gotem, SCOTUS gotem, I gotem an U2. Everbuddy waitin at the pump to get gassy. All hopin to get outa town 'for the shit gets too deep to drive through.   

 Meantime Mama Earth got nothin but the blues.
