War is bad for economies and especially for the 1%

Disabusing people of the myth that war is good for an economy is hard
enough, but convincing them that war reduces income inequality, when
so may believe that war is a project of the rich, of the elite, of the
oligarchs who amass wealth through profiteering and so on is next to
impossible. But that's what Piketty argues in his Capital. The great
wars in Europe were forces of income equality not income inequality.
