*hortly before dawn tomorrow,* there will be a "blood moon," one of those
groovy celestial events
<http://www.space.com/27358-total-lunar-eclipse-blood-moon-complete-coverage.html>that
come around every now and again.

This
will be the second of four anticipated blood moons, a cycle that began last
April and that will end next September. This is unusual, say the scientific
types. Back in the day, this particularly groovy celestial event used to
scare the bodkins off us

Luckily, we've left the shadows of our superstitious past and walked boldly
into the light of human reason.
No, wait...

The coming tetrad of lunar eclipse that America will have full view of may
strike one particular prophecy hard. Some followers of the bible have taken
references to the "blood moons," combined with the timing of the upcoming
eclipses (which fall on holy days such as Passover), as being a sign of the
Second Coming of Christ.
OK, so some Bible-banging shut-ins are worried that the Horsemen may ride
before daybreak on Wednesday. Surely, that's no concern of ours.
No, wait...

Hice explained in April, the day after the first blood moon in the
four-moon cycle appeared: "It's unprecedented that you would have four
blood moons, all which are falling on major Jewish holidays, feasts. I
believe there's very good reason to look at this very, very seriously...
[blood moons] have preceded world-changing, shaking type events. For
instance, in 1493, a similar thing occurred with these four blood moons,
and that took place when the Jews were expelled from Spain. There was
another one that occurred in 1949, and shortly after that Israel became a
state-it was founded out of nothing. The last of these four blood moons to
occur was in 1967, and of course that came during the Six-Day War between
Arabs and the Israeli nation...It seems only right to bring that awareness
out in terms of Biblical prophecy," Hice said.
Unless his doomsday predictions turn out to be right -- and wouldn't that
be god's own irony? -- Jody Hice likely will arrive

in
Washington next January as a member of the 114th Congress of the United
States. He has expressed other views
<http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2014/07/not-your-fathers-republican-party-meet.html>that
promise that he will more than take up the slack created by the departure
of The Girl With The Faraway Eyes in terms of sheer entertainment value,
but we can't lose sight of the fact that our fellow citizens in the 10th
Congressional District of Georgia will vote strongly in favor of a man who
believes in moon signs. Because we are no longer superstitious and are
rational people and it is the 21st century.
