Another meaning to that horn?

I never bothered to learn what a horn book was, despite its name on a major children's book magazine.

From WILL IN THE WORLD, about Shakespeare's grade school education: " The child no doubt began with a ' horn-book' ---a wooden tablet with the letters and the Paternoster printed on a piece of parchment covered with a thin sheet of transparent horn ---and with the standard primary school text THE ABC WITH THE CATECHISM."

Our beloved TRP is the kind who might love the horn/horn ambiguity, homonymy, with that extra textual meaning so CofL49.
