There is an interesting similarity between a chapter of the Simpson
and two characters in inherent vice. This chapter (1995) is the
transformation of the mother of Homer in an activist hippy during the
decade of the 60 s. And in one of the flashbacks that shows us that
decade appear these two drawings (based on real people) that are very
much alike to doc sportello and to Bigfoot. The similar is both in the
physical, as in the personality, because when Abe Simpson (the
grandfather) sees the hippy on tv starts to sound a music psychedelic
and complains about their patillas, while when it comes out the other
character says: ' that hairstyle if that inspires confidence ".
I have read that pynchon it is a great admirer of the Simpsons. We may
not be quite a coincidence? You what do you guys think?.

"Now, Johnny Unitas, there's a haircut you could set your watch to."
