Two statements appear to me worth discussing.

The novels are indeed similar and Vonnegut - "So it goes" - has, 
perhaps, the better punch line qualities.

> To this reader, Pynchon sounds  like the unabomber with a better thesaurus.<

This is not a literary argument and if it was this would rather be a 
compliment.
