Hey everybody,

I meant to post this a week ago, forgot, and was reminded of it by the
music recommendations floating around recently.

For the last year or so I've been really enjoying the music of this
contemporary cellist named Zoƫ Keating. I'm sure many of you are familiar,
but if you aren't...

She uses a foot-powered laptop on stage to make these really complex,
layered arrangements which she assembles at speed. In addition to the
coolness of it, it's also just very, very beautiful music. No lyrics. Very
dark, but also ethereal.

I had the chance to see her live for the first time here in Chicago last
month. There were a lot of hiccups--some of her equipment didn't make it;
she has what seems to be a chronic finger injury that flared up
mid-performance--but she was great nonetheless. (Man, watching an artist
that talented perform--watching her hands and her feet move--really
compelling stuff).

I'm sending along a performance she gave at a TEDTalk in 2009 and two
studio versions. If anybody else has any recommendations for me based on
this stuff, love to hear it.
