Yes. Familes and what is said/unsaid, done/left undone within them. It
worked for the Oresteia and Hamlet, for the darknesses in MacDonald's sunny
coast, for the Traverses and Wheelers and Tarnow-Loefflers. You don't even
need a big shaggy crime or curse or Inverarity inheritance, just humanness
bouncing and reflecting down the generations.
