I've noticed the " truth" of this a lot recently too. I think your remark is more insightful than it is witty even.
Everyone looks up everything on their phone. When they want certain kinds of facts they don't know. Some kind of larger culture change than spending too much time on them ( supposedly) and not talking anymore.
