It is the same knife. Here in the Netherlands it is often used instead
of 'knife'. It is not used in Belgian Dutch.
I remember having seen the word a first time in a 19th classic Dutch
novel by Multatuli, Max Havelaar, a heavy attack on Dutch colonialism in
Indonesia.
