Yeah, rereading is a marvel..

When I first read the bodice-ripping scene, I did think Mason might
not want to, hence the bodice-ripping parody.
I half-figured her 'aggression' would have scared him away from the
act. But I guess
the previous line naming her willing to be 'bad' shows he would have
but for the knock on the door.

So, page 64.....That Release (from Johanna's Gaze) is also a punning
ejaculation, right, after Mason has
suggestively asked her to attend to his Member?

So, he lusts maybe most for Johanna? ....Reasons or opportunity?.
....With teenage girls, are we to half-suspect she might be too old
for baby-making? Just a desperate housewife in that household full of
hair and sex thoughts?

So, through Laura's logical eyes, we see that Austra's explanation was
another part of her seduction attempt.

Is Dixon's carousing with the OTHERS, part of why he is not seen as
suitable? Mason is more Establishment England in his ways
and the leader of the group?

Is part of it all, a "French Women!" kind of parody of our perception of women?
