in these chapters, aren't we meant to 'sympathize' more with Dixon's
expressed positions when the two are contrasted? The whole-hearted
enjoyment of Malay food, the sexual opportunities for pleasure?...

Is Dixon a little like a Whole Sick Crewer but also with a
growing friendship bond with Mason?

Is he an embodiment of
being cool but caring?
