On " Inconvenience"

Perhaps one reason Pynchon's willful use of this word in his way in his work
Is such an interesting trope is that ' inconvenience' nowadays refers much more to a bothersome thing or Situation than person, the online dictionaries seem to imply. 

I am going to check the OED tomorrow to see what it sez about the earlier meanings
Of the word. from James' time and earlier.
