This reminds me (because i saw episode 4 of the BBC Two "Wolf Hall" the
other day) of Hilary Mantel's "rehabilitation" of Thomas Cromwell --
especially in re Thomas More. I saw Paul Scofield on st age in Bolt's "A
Man for All Seasons" at an impressionable age, and have seen the movie and
read the play enough times to skew anything learned from histories of the
period. So now it's fascinating to see the equally talented and compelling
Mark Rylance (and Anton Lesser as More) spin that freighted story another
way entirely.
