Yes, Drum (and Butterworth and Orzel) are right: the stakes (and the payoff
for persuading the public that scientific view A is correct and B is not)
are absolutely trivial in high-energy physics, astrophysics and cosmology
compared to those in climate change/energy, health/nutrition, and a long
list of other applied sciences and technologies.
