late capitalism

Browsed in a book of essays on M & D in a college library and
one of them argued, focusing on the global trade therefore consumerism
which interlards the novel, said Pynchon's presentation of late capitalism
is even THERE. (Because of the 20th Century overlay of meanings mostly)

I'm not so sure, P seems to me to be showing Capitalism in firming control
but I din't read the essay so.....................
