Dear all,

We are pleased to announce that the next International Pynchon Week will 
be held in La Rochelle, on the French Atlantic coast, June 5-9, 2017.

Following up on the success of IPW 2015 in Athens will be a tough call, 
and we are hoping the conference will be as exciting as what Ali and 
Yorgos put together this spring.

The city of La Rochelle looks out across the ocean to the New World - 
and we have chosen to focus the conference on "Pynchon's New 
Worlds." The CFP will be circulated widely in September, and you will 
have ample time to submit (until December, 2016).

La Rochelle is just over 3 hours from Paris on the fast train (around 
160 euros for a return ticket); it is a historic city with a wealth of 
hotels and restaurants close to the harbor, within walking distance from 
the train station (http://www.ville-larochelle.fr/decouvrir-la-ville.html).

We will be hosted by

- the /Musée du Nouveau Monde/ 
(http://www.alienor.org/musees/index.php?/fre/La-liste-des-villes/La-Rochelle/Musee-du-Nouveau-Monde), 
home to a rich collection of 18th century French and colonial American 
decorative art and furniture,

- and the city's public library
