AtD was at least loosely in the works since before GR was published.
Remember that letter to Candida? It might have been lacking almost
everything we'd associate with the finished product, but I think it
appearing to be a reworking of GR is at least in part because of it's
relative positioning-- on the P's authorial timetable (er timespasm?)
