The old-fashioned novel of character need(ed), needs
depth of characterization, insight into human beings to
fill up those fictional characters....
"so that she feels like an imposter, too, which is not
without its own thrill of shame".....
And There is another great phrase: "the Brass-bound merciliness of Sunday."
