Serendipitous find on Oedipa feeling like an alien. Not asserting causality.

Early 20th Century suffragette, Inez Haynes Gillmore in Harper's Bazaar in 1912:

"Confessions of an Alien"...."the duties and pleasures of the average
woman bore and irritate.
The duties and pleasures of the average man interest and allure [me]."
