 I can't quite follow your ironies here, Monte, not quick enough I
guess, esp 'confident clinical detachment' and 'passing fever".  I
remember the book
as pattern-finding up to the Goldwater movement therefore as insights
that such were beyond a "passing fever". (But I did not read it until
much later
than it was published. I read Social Darwinism and thought I learned a
shitload forever after-- and much earlier in my life) )

But a post explained is a post dumbed-down so, I'll keep reflecting.

Jesuit conspiracy in M &D might have been influenced, yes?
