Pynchon and the "Californian Ideology"

Bleeding Edge includes, along with the so-called California computer
economy and its ideology from VC and Start-ups to hated monopolies of
Google & Microsoft, Chicago Commodities and Derivatives, NYC's Alley and
Wall Street, and ICE, the Network of International Capital Markets, the
Mafias from collapsed Soviet states to crony capitalism not to mention
Servers in the Ice Lands and so on...so California ain't exactly central,
or even essential to BE. The zeitgeist is hardly a California one
anyways...never was. That's just the way they dream it up out there, but
Pynchon sees through all that fog.
