I thought the conspiracy part of it was an ok mixture of conspiracy
clichés which were emphasised as such (the sinister company's central
command room, only one person at the top, the Chinese symbol -- although
the story behind the symbol was too over the top for my taste) and
plausible real world conspiracy flavour (collusion of secret services,
government and industry, even NGOs -- I especially liked the part about
the minutes of that particular meeting in the 1970s and, of course, the
reference to a top secret biological weapons program in the 1960s which
reminded me of BE).

Not plausible, granted. But Arby and Jessica are to some extent
stereotypes. You are surely not watching this with plausibility as your
main concern?
