Facepalming over here. In Richmond in 2001, in the leadup to war, the
restaurant employing me rewrote its menu and kitchen protocol. We were
Forbidden from saying french fries. They were frittes. On the ticket
printouts, whenever orders were called, frittes. Always frittes. Of
course all I heard was Fritz. It so flummoxed me... People kvetch
about P.C. but political correctness has nothing on that kind of
contrarian weirdness.
