Smugness and superiority are popular and so I'd assume successful
advertising techniques, not confined to snooty hyper-literates, as much as
it pains me to see it. Going around town (NY) I've become gradually
infuriated at those delivery service apps for the ultra-slothful - "You
don't lift your own pearlescent fingers to cook/clean/shop/etc, what are
you, some kind of peasant?" - invariably connecting this to some supposed
New Yorker ethos. I always just see the folks from uptown and the outer
boroughs who get paid scraps to shuffle the shit to princes and princesses.

But yeah, this is sad.
