Sorry if someone has already posted this, but it caught my eye.

So this history channel series called "Nazi Hunters" has one episode
on Rocket Scientists, with a focus on WVB - natch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O52gQNVOEKE

About 35 minutes into the piece it states that the public was made
aware of German (Nazi) scientists working in and for the US; first in
1946 an article appeared in the El Paso Times about "Top German V-2
Experts Stationed E.P" - but that was only local news. "The story
resurfaced in 1947, this time nationally." ir ran in the New York
Herald tribune, when little Tommy P was ten years old.

Can anyone add anything to this? Does anyone perchance have the
articles? The El Paso article was front page but the documentary says
nothing about the NYH Tribune piece. Did it get much buzz or did it
die? Would folks on Oyster Bay have read about it? Or talked about it?

This website ( http://v33v.tripod.com/ww3.html ) was helpful filling
in the time line. Feb 23 all 117 of the V2 scientists ("The Team") are
in El Paso. Media doesn't seem topick it up until November and Time
runs a piece on The Team on December 9. At the end of the month Truman
received a letter from Einstein and others protesting the presence and
employment of former nazis.

Maybe a lot of folks still harboured Father Coughlin type sentiments,
so only Stephen Wise got upset. Eveybody else was watching Tom and
Jerry.
