I don't really know any Gilbert & Sullivan nor English songs of the period
or beyond but,

This song verse from P, because I do know it, I have heard in the rhythms
of a song and dance number from the time P was writing GR. My Fair Lady.
Probably just too-personal projection but if others think possible, I love
the
embedded joke re GR: the guy has to have his fun with all the girls of
London
he can before he "marries in the morning".....
