Atlantis and Lemuria Legends

Lemuria could also be a mythologized reinvention of the matriarchal or semi-matriarchal societies which seemed to thrive on Islands: Crete, Malta, Ireland, Okinawa, Polynesia, Hawaii.   The priests of patriarchal systems like ancient Judaism went to lengths to demonize women: Eve, Lilith, Jezebel. A theme picked up in Christianity: Babylon the Great Whore.
