Long-Term Jobs. Right. In the end, as some smart economist once said, we're
all dead by robot. But Katz and others who argue that automation not China
is the cause of Long Term Job losses ignore the immediate, real an d
devastating impact of China's spectacular growth in investment and trade.
Trump did not ignore this and it got him elected. To argue that he is
simply pandering, that he's wrong...is to miss the point. The short tem
impact was real to voters and they sent the strongest message they could to
the Democrats. The Dems can continue to recite Krugman and Katz when Trump
is re-elected.
