Story, plot seen as beyond mythic even, like physics or the structure of space, time in the mind

The article seems to claim a new understanding or at least a wizened reassetion of the reason behind universal dramatic structures . Describing basic story structures is territory researched for 34 years by Christpher Booker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Basic_Plots <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Basic_Plots>. Yorke says N Frye also has a system but each system is different. After mentioning only 2 systems he could have at least described how they differed enough to dismiss them. Because these systems are very general and can cover the same territory by making a single term more or less inclusive. He makes no attempt to prove this case and relies on the ignorance of the reader. He then says Booker and others failed to ask why their fundamental story plots behave as they do. OK, Yorke, can you tell us why? He doesn't For a more specific instance of this laziness, he says the plot of Being John Malkovich is classic. The story is certainly odd enough that such an assertion demands some explanation. Zip. The article is intellectual crap, lazy, full of name dropping and boastful vague promises based on his expertise as a TV script writer. I won’t be reading his book.
