Offline, a fine-combed reader diplomatically questioned my overly
simplified line about
BLEEDING EDGE "has little but consolidation of wealth"....
BLEEDING EDGE has a lot more that that, of course. I should have written
something
to the effect, the NYC and world of BE is one of consolidated wealth. I
threw off these
observations to show what I meant to suggest:
The cover and its massive computer "towers", the insect bus around the
buildings of NYC and no relative poor (except Maxine?),
big start-up monies and money as the murder motivation?; Maxine's work
itself exists because of wealth, for example. The (only) paranoid 9/11
theory involves financial anomalies from just before....

Look at the deepest resonances of P's crystal and steel opening in this new
piece!
Great artists find the symbolic forms that say the most; that have the
deepest, right resonances.
Images ultimately that carry meanings upon meanings:
Pull quote:
"Inequality has in a sense crystallized in the forms of glass and steel
residential buildings carefully designed to glitter. In growing height and
number, they have come to stand for a consolidation of wealth that is
seemingly insoluble. Or, to use another fluid metaphor, a wealth that is
unlikely to trickle down."

Progress & Poverty invoked. Besides the GR resonances, this is why BLEEDING
EDGE has
little but consolidation of wealth. The 'rest is[was] too high"---TRP in
