Why, yes, P is right, this story is not amateur work. This story
feels like the prose of V which it is (almost) a part of as is, we know.
(Misc. by the way,
P ends a number of sentences with "of" as in 'part of" early in GR. Wilful
smack at old grammar 'rules".) P's prose is looser with more nuance so
feels more
like insight into life.
It might be needed to be read twice for holding in one's mind aright, mine
anyway, not true
of any other story be Ish's rightful fave: "The Secret Integration". I'll
get there soon enough and
Ish will enlighten us again.
P's reading and sensibility re spies and the concept of spying---To spy on
another is
a betrayal, a betrayal of privacy at least. Very important Theme for P
lifelong. Porpentine
spying from outside the window on Goodfellow with Vctoria, classic trope
which surprises
me here and in the story.
Later themes appearing here: the inanimate (town square is), Puritanical
purity therefore condemnation of others out of it and a response that is
NOT just either-or to it. [Later post]
