Germany on the Brink

Politicizing doth make strange bedfellows of us all. I'm with the right
wing hack if it means protecting women. Suspend the politics and consider
the facts and even a left wing anarchist can see that women are made more
vulnerable when a large refugee population, of predominantly young men are
introduced to a population that has a high percentage of unemployed and
underemployed young  males.

 To dismiss the facts and all such concerns as xenophobic or racist is
foolish.

So how will the women protect themselves?

The German chancellor is very aware of the risks to females, and, as a
female leader, one of the most powerful and influential leaders in the
world, and in the middle of the crisis, she must act to support women so
that they can protect themselves.

Of course, the long term policies that are in place must be enforced so
that women's rights are not undermined, but in a crisis such as this,  more
must be done. The rights of refugees and of immigrants and women, all quite
vulnerable,  need not be set in conflict, but to ignore the tensions there
is dangerous to everyone.
