The Crying of Lot 49, redux, one simple level Reading

Oedipa goes out 'hunting for America" as the S & G song put it
around its time, (now a Sanders campaign ad)....as Pierce is compared
to a founding father & helped build its tower of materiality. "the tower is
everywhere".
"America, Let it unfold" the signal.

and Oedipa
finds its great variety everywhere, each scene of meeting someone,
none of which she gets, each showing an associative mysterious hidden
'thing' about America....

the play within the novella is a very bloody, revenge tale, a History (of
America) ,
A---and the corruption of the text and its mysteries is the corruption
of all the bloody history [after all, royalty is involved] and its meanings
yet ideals--that original Constitution and Bill of Rights [part of the text]
 that were the beginning of America which is going where now?--
the ending asks.
As the Director has walked into the sea...

and as
the US Post Office is "the socialist, democratic" America---

Katrina Vanden Heuvel (of The Nation mag) used this description
of the PO recently to explain by example some of Bernie's meanings
to his socialism, his democratic socialism---

which is no longer the best communication sorter
