Searching for General Aniline and Film, stumbled upon a book on IG
Farben by Joseph Birkin. Fascinating!

No mention of Carl Schmitz (GR, page 565), but the chapter on Corporate
Camouflage states:

"The extraordinary success of I.G.’s operation camouflage was, in
effect, a tribute to the genius of a single individual, Hermann Schmitz,
hand-picked by Carl Bosch in 1935 to be his successor as head of I.G.
Farben. From the time I.G. was formed until it disappeared as a separate
entity, Schmitz was in charge of its foreign empire and the principal
architect of the program for camouflaging the company’s vast overseas
holdings."
